Speaking to the media Wednesday, New England Patriots tight end talked about the return of Tom Brady, fantasy football and touched on his hamstring injury.

With Tom Brady skipping today’s media session, tight end Rob Gronkowski stepped to the podium to answer questions about the return of Mr. Brady.  Like many fans and players, Gronkowski expressed great excitement about the return of his quarterback.

"“It’s always exciting. He’s our leader of our offense,” said Gronkowski via WEEI. “He’s a great player and it’s exciting to get TB back, man.”"

Gronkowski has been hampered by a hamstring injury through the first four games of the season.  The two games he has played he has been limited in the offense.  That could change with Brady back.  The All-Pro tight end definitely feels a rise in the level of competition with No. 12 back on the practice field.

"“Competition level out there, no matter whoever is out there, is always high,” said Gronk. “This whole team is full of competitiveness. We’ve got players like Julian, Marty, all the offensive linemen. Everyone out there is competing all the time. Tom is another great example of a great leader that goes out there and competes every single day so, it’s always great to have another player come in like Tom, coming back and bringing the competition level up to another level, too.”"

More from New England Patriots

Despite his obvious level of excitement, the big tight end kept it about the team and their focus on the 0-4 Cleveland Browns.  He acknowledged Cleveland as a tough opponent that will require focus as an entire unit.  Having Brady back will certainly help, but the entire team needs to turn it around from how they played last week against the Buffalo Bills.

Gronkowski’s health and ability to participate in the offense will also be of benefit to the team.  When asked about his hamstring, Gronk said that it is getting better and ready to let loose.

"“Obviously, it’s holding me back. I missed the first two games and didn’t play that much in the third and played more the fourth one. I’ve been progressing every single week, every single day and hopefully, this week now, it’s GO time,” said Gronk."

He also took some time to address those angry fantasy football owners who are not happy with his lack of offensive power so far in the season.

"“I can’t even go to the grocery store without getting yelled at,” the New England Patriots tight end said Wednesday. “I’m like, ‘Why did you draft me?’ ”"

We all know why the Patriots drafted him.  It is a sure bet the lack of offensive production is about to change with Brady back even if Rob Gronkowski is only at about 90 percent.
