Boston Red Sox are on the verge of elimination following a 6-0 loss to the Cleveland Indians in the ALDS.  The loss has left a sour taste in the mouth of one David Ortiz.

He can’t go out this way, he just simply can’t.  Boston Red Sox slugger David Ortiz is just one game away from seeing his clutch career end with disappointment.  Following Friday’s 6-0 shutout loss to the Cleveland Indians, the man known as Big Papi was not happy with the team’s performance and admitted they are just getting their behinds handed to him.

"“Should I be happy?” Ortiz said when asked if he was angry with the results of the last two games.  “We’re getting our asses beat.  Nothing to celebrate.”"

As the Red Sox now trail 2-0 in the best-of-five series, all eyes now turn to Clay Buchholz to come through after both Rick Porcello and David Price have failed to do as starters.  It will be a do-or-die game and Ortiz is not one known to go out easy.  Besides he has been here before, he has been here several times.  While he is angry, he is not stunned.

Big Papi has led Red Sox team’s back from deficits like this in the playoffs before, so it is fitting that he will have the opportunity to do it again in his farewell season.  It would be quite the story actually.  At the same time, his teammates should be doing this for him and not the other way around.  Hopefully they will.

Come Sunday afternoon, Fenway will be rocking and David Ortiz will come to play.  I would bet the $217 million David Price is being paid that the Red Sox will be ready as well.

It’s simple.  In the words of Big Papi himself:

“Gotta hit better and pitch better.”
