Patriots Gridiron News 10/10: Chris Hogan Shows He’s a Deep Threat
Patriots wide receiver Chris Hogan had a big game offensively, showing off his deep threat capabilities.
New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady has a new weapon.
In Sunday’s 33-13 victory over the Cleveland Browns, Brady connected with Chris Hogan four times or 114 yards. Two of those receptions were deep bombs in which Hogan showed up his deep threat capabilities.
Following two relatively quiet games, the past two weeks, Hogan talked about how much fun he is having catching the ball from Brady and being a part of a winning team.
"“I’m having a lot of fun,” Hogan said via the Providence Journal. “I’m enjoying playing on this team with these guys. Really makes it, winning changes things and makes it a lot of fun. All in all this whole team is fun to be around and fun to play with.”"

The Patriots signed Hogan to a three-year deal in the offseason and he is proving to be worth the money. In five games so far this season, Hogan has 12 receptions for 236 yards and a touchdown. Quite a few of those receptions has been down the field.
His 43-yard reception and 63-yard catch on Sunday shows that he has already formed a chemistry with Tom Brady that will only get better from week to week.
"“I’m going to run hard and if I can get behind the guys and Tom sees it, I’m going to try to make some plays,” Hogan continued. “I don’t know if people consider me a deep threat, maybe I’ll get there one day.”"
Cyrus Jones: Rookie defensive back Cyrus Jones is having a tough start to his NFL career. The second-round pick out of Alabama was ejected during Sunday’s game.
With 11 minutes remaining in the third quarter, referee Bill Vinovich stopped the game between the Patriots and Browns an announced a 15-yard unsportsmanlike penalty on Jones. That was then followed up by a rejection.
While the reason for the ejection wasn’t seen on television, Vinovich later explained that Jones was ejected for throwing punches.
"“It was deemed that [Jones] threw a punch,” he said via cnne.com. “Punch and connect, you’re ejected.”"
Dion Lewis: After watching James White have a nice game against the Cleveland Browns, questions have surfaced as to when running back Dion Lewis will return. According to a report by CBS Sports last week, Lewis can begin practicing in a couple weeks. The explosive running back landed on the Patriots PUP list to start the season due to a knee procedure.

It should be noted that he was seen walking around without much of a problem. While he should be slowed a little bit in his return, having Lewis as another weapon should make the Patriots offense even more dangerous.
