Patriots quarterback Tom Brady checked into Kirk & Callahan to talk about Sunday’s performance against the Cleveland Browns.

Tom Brady returned to the field with a bang.  On Sunday, the New England Patriots quarterback returned following a four-game suspension to lead his team to a 33-13 victory over the Cleveland Browns.

Brady, who threw for 406 yards and three touchdowns, didn’t appear to have any rust as he had the offense clicking just like it was entering last year’s AFC title game against the Broncos.  In his first appearance of the season on Kirk & Callahan on Monday, Brady talked about his return and how he prepared during those four weeks off.

"“I would have much rather have been playing,” Brady said when asked about the positive affect the time off had on his body. “Hard to say. I feel pretty good. Every week I feel pretty good. I think at the end of the Denver game last year, at the end of the season, after that game — well, I was a little sore after that game — but I felt pretty good going into that game. I’ve talked at length about how I have been feeling over the years. I feel better now at 39 than I did when I was 29.”"

Brady went on to say that he got himself into a good routine during the week.  And because he doesn’t do a lot of running as a quarterback, he believes quarterbacks in general have the ability to play for a long time.  But what about the rust many believed that he would have entering the game?  Well there was some, Brady said, but it was pretty much gone by the time the game started on Sunday.

It comes back pretty quick. I thought Wednesday was decent and then Thursday I felt a little better out there and then Friday I felt way better than Thursday. I was hoping Sunday I would feel better than I did on Friday. By the time I got out there in warmups, it felt kind of like, ‘Man, I’ve done this before.’”"

In the interview, Brady went on to talk about how the team prepared for the game, the fan support he received in Cleveland as well as the performance of Martellus Bennett.  The two were able to connect for three touchdowns for the Patriots.  Brady applauded how much the big tight end has contributed so far this season:

"“He’s been just such a great contributor. He’s just been so productive in a short period of time. He played a great game yesterday.”"

Brady also touched on the “great job” backup quarterback Jimmy Garoppolo did while filling in for him.
