New England Patriots running back Dion Lewis still hasn’t begun practicing since becoming eligible this week.

What is going on with Dion Lewis?  That is the question Patriots fans are asking this week since Lewis became eligible to practice and has yet to be seen on the field.  Although head coach Bill Belichick said Tuesday that the dynamic running back was unlikely to return this week, there is still cause for concern.

Lewis, who tore his left ACL on Nov. 8, was placed on the physically-unable-to-perform list opening the season due to a clean-up procedure on the same knee.  Despite being more visible in the locker room over the past few weeks, one has to wonder just how far along Lewis has come with the repaired ACL.

The Patriots, of course, aren’t in a rush to get Lewis back.  Running back James White has filled in nicely in his absence so far this season.  White’s two touchdown receptions in Sunday’s 34-17 win against Cincinnati showed that he can be a reliable passing back.

Last season before the injury, Dion Lew rushed the ball for 234 yards along with 388 yards in reception yards.  He was becoming another reliable weapon for Tom Brady before he went down.

Tre’ Jackson:  The offensive lineman also has yet to practice since becoming eligible this week.  Like Lewis, it is more than likely that the Patriots are taking their time easing him back onto the field.  New England does have some depth along the offensive line. Jackson has also had offseason knee surgery.

Trevor Reilly:  After working out with the team Wednesday, former New York Jets linebacker Trevor Reilly was signed to the practice squad Thursday.  He replaced wide receiver Shaq Evans.

In 29 career games, Reilly has recorded 31 tackles and one sack.  He is one of two defensive players on a practice squad that mostly consists of running backs, wide receivers and offensive linemen.
