Boston Celtics star forward Al Horford is finally feeling like himself again after missing several games due to a concussion.

Al Horford may finally step on the court again Saturday night when the Boston Celtics take on the Detroit Pistons.  The All-Star forward entered the league’s concussion protocol program back on Nov. 2 and is finally starting to feel right again.

Although Horford missed Friday night’s blowout loss suffered at the hands of the Golden State Warriors, the $113 million man said before the game that the experience of deal with a concussion has certainly opened his eyes.

"“It’s definitely tough,” he said via CSNNE.com.  “This whole time in general has been hard for me.  Just because I’m learning like everybody else about having a concussion.  I never thought it was something that, that serious.  But now I’m finding out.  It’s really made me be more patient; I have to be.”"

The Celtics have struggled a bit without Horford, but the team knows his health is more important for the long haul.  Still, Horford has expressed frustration with the way he has started his new chapter in Boston, especially because he is a competitor.

"“I want to be out helping my team, and us growing together,” he said earlier in the week.  “But the last thing I want to do is have a setback, come in when I’m not supposed to, and set myself back for a longer period of time.“We’re trying to be as smart as we can about this.  I just want to make sure that when I’m ready to go, I’m good to go.”"

What Al Horford has experienced with his concussion is something those outside of sports may not understand.  It is a different kind of injury that affects an athlete in different ways than most physical injuries.  Horford and the team need to make sure he’s feeling right more than just physically.  It appears he is close to that feeling.

"“I’m finally at the point where … I’m starting to feel more like myself again,” Horford said."
