New England Patriots linebacker Kyle Van Noy made a couple of big plays in Sunday’s victory over the Los Angeles Rams.

Kyle Van Noy will have to make a few more big plays to make Patriots fans get over the Jamie Collins trade.  The third-year linebacker who was acquired from the Detroit Lions on Oct. 25 has played in the last three games for New England and is starting to deliver as his workload dramatically increases.

On Sunday, the 6-foot-3, 243-pound linebacker lead all linebackers with 41 snaps.  He collected five tackles and recorded his first career interception.  He also had a big hit in the game and showed some real emotion.  Above all, he even served as the defensive signal-caller, proving just how far he has come in the Patriots’ defense.

More from New England Patriots

"“That’s a big step and we’re trying to just push forward and get better with that and I think just getting to know him a little bit better,” Defensive coordinator Matt Patricia said Tuesday. “He’s extremely prideful in his work and his approach to the game. He’s very cerebral; he’ll ask a lot of questions, he really wants to understand what we’re doing and why, which is great.”"

Patricia went on to that the team is allowing Van Noy to learn techniques and the fundamentals the team has instilled in the system.  The fact that he is making big plays in the midst of learning and understanding his role says volumes about the type of player he is and the type of player he could eventually evolve into under Patricia and Bill Belichick.

Tuesday tryouts:  With a need to potentially fill a void at wide receiver due to Danny Amendola’s ankle injury, the Patriots brought in wide receiver Dez Stewart for a workout.

The rookie free agent spent training camp with the Washington Redskins and most recently was on the Green Bay Packers’ practice squad.  He would more than likely be a candidate for the Patriots’ practice squad if they decide to go the route of promoting a receiver.

The Patriots also worked out offensive linemen Chris Watt and James Stone Tuesday.  Stone is interesting as he started 10 games in two seasons with the Atlanta Falcons.
