With one of the best quarterbacks to ever play the game, the New England Patriots come in at No. 30 in FanSided’s Fandom 250.

The real America’s team resides in New England.  Just ask ESPN’s Stephen A. Smith.  Even though they are the winningest franchise over the last decade plus in the NFL, the New England Patriots came in at No. 30 in FanSided’s Fandom 250.

Just a spot behind the Boston Red Sox, the overall ranking seems a bit low for a team that has won four Super Bowls since 2001 and have the highest odds of winning this year’s Super Bowl.  As part of the ranking of the top 250 fan bases covering all forms of entertainment, the Patriots are the model of consistency.

With Tom Brady behind center and Bill Belichick on the sidelines, the Patriots have won double digit wins in eleven consecutive seasons.  If you think that is something, New England as a franchise has appeared in eight Super Bowls, won 17 AFC East titles (including 7 consecutive) and was a fluke catch away from having a 19-0 season.

More from New England Patriots

In between all that, the team and fans have had to endure the “Spygate” and “Deflategate” scandals.   Despite all that, the team continues to win and are an example of what playing as a team is all about.  With the model “Do Your Job,” the Patriots have players who do what they are told and put the team ahead of individual success.

Take Brady for example.  On the brink of becoming the winningest quarterback in NFL history with 201, the future Hall-of-Fame quarterback was focused on winning the game and didn’t pay any attention to passing Peyton Manning in all-time wins.  That is an example of what makes the Patriots a model franchise and one that should rank ahead of the Green Bay Packers (No. 21) and Dallas Cowboys (No. 5).

Perhaps it will take one more Super Bowl victory to take over the role of America’s team.  Ironically, their next championship will tie the Cowboys.  A team they may well face in Super Bowl LI.
