Patriots Gridiron News: LeGarrette Blount Rushing Towards History
New England Patriots running back LeGarrette Blount has a chance to make history in Monday night’s matchup against the Baltimore Ravens.
If LeGarrette Blount is to make history Monday night, he would do so against a stingy Baltimore Ravens’ defense. The New England Patriots running back will have a chance to set a team record that has been intact for two decades.
Blount needs just one rushing touchdown to tie Curtis Martin’s single-season franchise record of 14. The Hall of Fame running back set the record in both 1995 and 1996.

The 30-year-old running back is having one of his best seasons ever. He has carried the ball 230 times and is just 51 yards away from surpassing his personal best of 1,007 total rushing yards on the season. With just four games remaining, it is a good bet that he will exceed that total by quite a bit.
His running style and ability to break open some long runs has impressed head coach Bill Belichick.
"“I don’t know if there’s a lot of guys really that I would compare him to right off the bat,” Belichick said Wednesday via NESN. “You see him making some tough runs and running guys over, and then you see him hurdling guys like in the Miami game, and you see an open-field run like he had last week against the Rams where he kind of, you know, spun the safety around and ran by him.“So he’s got a good combination of moves and style. It’s not all one thing. He’s effective. He’s got an effective stiff-arm. He can be elusive, he can be powerful. And he’s got good run vision. It’s hard to find another guy like him.”"

Blount has played every game this season and is the perfect complement to both James White and Dion Lewis. While those two backs provide the speed, Blount delivers the power and force to put games away or even get the tough short yardage that the team needs.
Brady’s MVP odds: With Rob Gronkowski now out for the season following season-ending back surgery, Tom Brady’s odds to win MVP has decreased.
According to Bovada, the Patriots as a team remain favorites to win the Super Bowl, but Brady now has the third best chance to take home the MVP honors. His odds are now at 15/2, which ranks him behind Ezekiel Elliot and Derek Carr.
One would think that if the Patriots did win the Super Bowl, Brady’s MVP odds should increase considering the team would have won without Gronkowski.
Injury report: The Patriots had four players missing from practice on Wednesday.
Martellus Bennett, Danny Amendola, Matthew Slater and Jordan Richards all missed practice. Amendola is reported to be out the rest of the season due to an ankle injury suffered in last Sunday’s game against the Rams. Bennett’s day off was likely to get the tight end more rest and healing time for his ankle injury.
