Boston Celtics point guard Terry Rozier is having a good sophomore year in the NBA.

When it comes to positives for the Boston Celtics, second-year guard Terry Rozier is among them.  The 2015 first-round pick has not only improved offensively, but has displayed ball-handling skills and vision that has limited the amount of mistakes he makes when on the floor.

In fact, Rozier is proving why he was worth taking in the first round.  His high assists-to-turnover ratio has made him a valuable player coming off the bench.  But ball-handling skills and vision is not what Rozier credits as the reason for his lack of mistakes on the floor.

More from Boston Celtics

"“It’s easy for me to say, ‘I got a good handle. I was careful with the ball,’” Rozier told CSNNE.com. “It’s hard to turn the ball over if you’re not being aggressive.”"

The aggression has translated on the basketball court this season for Rozier.  This season he has 47 assists with 14 turnovers for an assist-to-turnover ratio of 3.4:1 which ranks tops in the league for guards who have logged at least 10 minutes per game.

In the last four games, he has dished out 12 assists committing just one turnover.  That number is impression considering his attack mode and the fact that he considers himself more of a scorer.

"“As a scorer all my life, you always have to be aggressive,” Rozier said. “You’ll draw attention. Once you draw that attention, you just make the extra pass. You’re never in the wrong when you’re aggressive.  I had to find that out when I came into the league. I was a little too passive and things like that. Once I’m aggressive, playing downhill I’m never in the wrong. It’s about making plays because I’m not a selfish player.”"

Rozier knows his game is still a work in progress, but finding a way to make the extra pass and also the consistency of doing so is what makes the second-year guard a valuable player for the Boston Celtics this season and perhaps other teams are noticing that value.

Notes & quotes

Isaiah Thomas: Boston Celtics point guard Isaiah Thomas is recovering well from a right groin injury that has had him out the last few games.  He will join the team in San Antonio, but will not play in the game on Wednesday night.

According to head coach Brad Stevens, Thomas is “still a little stiff,” but is progressing well.  The Celtics coach expects the All-Star guard to be ready for Friday’s home game against the Charlotte Hornets.

Brad Stevens on loss to Oklahoma City via Celtics.com:

"“That’s a frustrating loss, because we played really hard on the defensive end for most of the night.  We had critical turnovers throughout the game. We screwed up a few coverages throughout the course of the night, but not very many.”"

Al Horford on Russell Westbrook via NewsOK.com:

"“He’s playing in a tough conference, and night in and night out, teams are doubling him and doing all this stuff and he still manages to do that.  You’ve gotta give him a lot of credit.”"
