New England Patriots veteran defensive end Chris Long believes he has played on the toughest team ever.

The confetti has been cleaned up, but New England Patriots coaches, players and fans are still basking in the glory of the greatest comeback in Super Bowl history.  As a player who was a part of the Super Bowl LI magic, Chris Long explained just how the team was able to keep it all together to roar back in the big game.

Speaking on Barstool Sports’ podcast “Pardon My Take,” Long gushed about the team’s toughness and confidence in the team’s ability and within one another.

More from New England Patriots

"“Honestly, not to be too serious for a second, but, like, I really do think I just played on the toughest team of all time,” Long said via NESN. “The guys in that locker room, like, literally did not flinch. I knew I was like, I’m a human being, I was like, ‘Golly, like I got some doubts right now. We gotta play way better in the second half and this that in the third.’ Guys were like, walking in like Duron Harmon, who’s a safety for us, walked in and goes, ‘We’re about to make the biggest comeback in Super Bowl history,’ and I was like, ‘Dude, can we get a stop? Can we just like do one good thing? Maybe put one foot in front of the other?’"

Long, who hasn’t played on a winning team until this year, admitted that he wasn’t used to winning and being able to comeback from such a large deficit.  The confidence players like Duron Harmon had showed what this team is all about.  It didn’t take a big speech or pounding each other’s chest.  They just had to believe and execute the way they knew how.

As far as his future goes, Long said on the podcast that he has no plans of retiring.  The 31-year-old pass rusher could sail off into the sunset with his Super Bowl ring, but will come back for at least another season.  Whether it’s with the New England Patriots remains to be seen.
