The Boston Celtics are a good basketball team, but this is only the beginning.

Boston Celtics GM Danny Ainge has managed to put together a competitive NBA team in less than six seasons.  He’s literally the ideal of what every GM should aspire to be.  If your team isn’t good, use trades to get better, have patience and hire a coach who’s personality can handle the NBA.

So not only is Boston now competitive with Al Horford and Isaiah Thomas at the helm, but this is only the beginning.  I’m telling you guys, Marcus Smart doesn’t turn 23 until March.  Jaylen Brown just turned 20.  Oh, and it definitely seems like that  2017 Brooklyn Nets draft pick is something Ainge wants to use (which he should).    Keep Jaylen and Marcus together.  Draft a guy like Markelle Fultz or Lonzo Ball,  and you have a core for the coming ten years.

More from Boston Celtics

Before Jaylen Brown got hurt, we were finally starting to see what he could do.  Also, who’s to say Brown can’t turn into a superstar?  He certainly has the tools to do it.  Marcus Smart has been playing out of his mind lately.  Defensively the dude has been on an absolute tear, and he’s finally scoring more consistently.

Listen guys, I love Isaiah Thomas.  But I definitely think it’s worth drafting a stud guard out of college and developing him behind IT.  That’s what the C’s are doing with Brown.  I never think it’s a bad thing to have a top pick on a team with all these veteran guys.  Seriously, that’s only going to help him down the road when he’s going to have to take the reigns.

LeBron is 32 years old, and without him frankly that Cleveland team isn’t the best.  Boston is the only team in the top five of the Eastern Conference that is set up for long term success.  The most important formula in all of this?  Brad Stevens.  I fully believe in this guy, and as long as he’s head coach of this team they’re always going to be competitive.  Can you really ask for anything more?  I mean even if they ever have to go through some form of a rebuild like they recently did, at least we all know they’ll never be lazy on the court.
