Boston Celtics Don’t Need DeMarcus Cousins
It’s been a few hours since DeMarcus Cousins was traded to the New Orleans Pelicans, and some Boston Celtics fans aren’t happy.
Alright, I get it. The Pelicans totally stole Boogie, props to them for getting a great deal done on their part. The Boston Celtics could have topped the offer easily, and brought in Isaiah Thomas’ old teammate. But they don’t need Cousins.
Put it into perspective. Cousins came out and said he won’t sign an extension and wants to test Free Agency.

Meanwhile, earlier in the week, Danny Ainge stated he won’t trade “for a rental”. This was never going to happen guys. I feel like it was more likely to happen before Al Horford signed with the C’s. Ever since then, Boogie has been more of an afterthought. Now I’m sure Ainge is pretty pissed that the Pelicans got Cousins for nothing when he probably had offered much more months ago.
Attitude Adjustment
His attitude didn’t seem like something Brad Stevens wanted to deal with.Yeah he might have changed if he came here. I’m under the impression that Danny Ainge probably sat with Brad and asked him how he felt about Boogie. Stevens and Ainge have that type of relationship.
I’m all for the Celtics getting an athletic big who can really rebound the basketball, and a scoring wing. Jimmy Butler seems to be the guy Ainge is focused on, and honestly, I’m all for it. Depending on what the Bulls would be asking, of course. I think Al Horford is probably the most ideal big for Stevens’ system. With his skillset, you really only need an athletic center to put alongside him, one who can grab double-digit rebounds and protect the interior.

The Boston Celtics community needs to take a deep breath. C’mon guys, this team is second in the east and IT is having a monster year! Ainge will get his star, be patient.
