Boston Celtics all-star point guard Isaiah Thomas has no issue with the team that traded him to his current NBA team.

Does Isaiah Thomas hold a grudge against the team who traded him to the Boston Celtics?  The answer is a big resounding “no” as the All-Star point guard is grateful to the Phoenix Suns for the opportunity they gave him via the trade.

In fact, he called the transaction a “Christmas gift” according to the Boston Herald’s Steve Bulpett.  The question was asked as the Celtics prepare to take on the Suns Sunday night in the second game of their current West coast trip.

"“It’s like they gave me a Christmas gift.  They sent me away.  So I thank them.  But I don’t use it as motivation,” Thomas said via the Boston Herald.  “I wasn’t really here long enough to be able to, I guess, use that as motivation.  I treat it like another game.”"

As part of one of Danny Ainge’s best trade steals, Thomas went from sharing playing time with two other point guards to basically being the man in Boston.  The Celtics currently hold the No. 2 seed in the Eastern Conference and are a star player or two away from competing for NBA championships.

Phoenix, on the other hand, continues to struggle as a franchise.  The trade essentially helped ascend one franchise, while the other has become a descending sun (no pun intended…well maybe).

Thomas, who also spent time in Sacramento, has also ascended as one of the NBA’s elite players.  While his heightened success was not expected by many or perhaps anyone, the big little point guard said he always believed he would be exactly where he is.

"“Nobody believed it, except probably my friends and my family,” Thomas said.  “Nobody believed anything that I’ve always said until I showed them.  And I’ve been given the opportunity here in Boston to showcase what I can do, and I’m talking full advantage of it.”"

Isaiah Thomas went on to praise the city of Boston as a great place to play and a great place to win a championship.
