The Boston Celtics are having a year to remember, and they’re only getting started.

Everything that could have gone right for the Celtics this season, has. The Boston Celtics have one of, if not the brightest, future of any NBA team. Many thought Boston’s rebuilding process would take substantially longer. This young Celtic’s squad is already a No.2-seed in the Eastern Conference.

Boston is likely to do something they haven’t done in five years, finish 1st in the Atlantic division. The Celtics are also looking to win their 1st playoff series in five years, something that has eluded them in their last 3 playoff appearances. Since 2012 the Celtics have made the playoffs 3 of 4 years, being bounced in the first round all three times (4-12 combined record of all three appearances).

More from Boston Celtics

With 47 wins and 9 games still remaining (6 Home, 3 Away), the Celtics are likely to reach 50 wins for the first time in six years. Coach Brad Stevens is also looking to get his first playoff series win as an NBA head coach.

Boston’s decision to keep their assets looking more and more like correct choice.

While the Celtic’s have great future draft picks and cap space. Other title contenders like the Cavaliers, Warriors, and Clippers don’t even have a draft pick in 2017. Three teams currently in the Eastern Conference playoff race only have 1 draft pick in 2017 (Detroit, Washington, Miami).

Many criticized Danny Ainge when the Celtics failed to make a blockbuster trade at the NBA deadline.

That decision seems like a wise one as the Celtics, who are only 0.5 games out of 1st place in the Eastern Conference, should get substantially better this offseason.
