Despite being the clear leaders throughout their match against the San Jose Earthquakes the New England Revolution couldn’t finish.

The perfect home record of the New England Revolution does not reach three games as they add a disappointing scoreless draw to the record.

Coming into their one and only game against the San Jose Earthquakes this season, the Revolution were determined to get back on track following this prior weekend. The Revs found their form until their 3-0 loss to Chicago on Saturday.

More from New England Revolution

With knowledge that the Quakes have problems on the attacking end and with home-field advantage, the expectations were high.

Game summary

From the opening whistle New England took control of the game.  The Revs had 56.8 percent of the possession throughout the game and nearly doubled the Quakes’ shots (15-8) and put twice as many on target (6-3).

Taking a look at the rest of the stats, it is clear as to how much work the Revolution put in to this match. The men in blue  seemed to be always on the attack, forcing some panicky defense from San Jose.

The Quakes were forced to clear the ball 27 times during the match. New England only had eight and of the 14 corners given in the match 11 of them went New England’s way.

Stars of the Match

Diego Fagundez and Lee Nguyen both had multiple attempts on goal through really nice passing. Overall the team completed 76% of their passes and over 63% deep in San Jose territory.

Fagundez had the best chance of the night when he got the ball under his foot just outside the box. His worm-burning shot was just deflected away from the bottom left corner after a nice diving save by Bingham.

Though the Quakes’ keeper had more saves, Cody Cropper for the Revolution refused to be outdone.

For the Future

With the show they put on against San Jose, the New England Revolution don’t have too much to adjust.

Across the pitch the Revs showed good pace and made chances from all over the field. All they need is a little luck off the foot.

After the draw the Revolution are in 7th place in the Eastern Conference with eight points. They only trail Atlanta United by a one goal difference.
