The New England Patriots did not have a pick in the first or second round of the NFL Draft. Now they’ve traded their first pick for two, moving down just 11 spots.

The New England Patriots will now make their first pick of the NFL Draft with the 83rd selection.

Bill Belichick and the Patriots chose to move down from the 72nd pick, sending it and a sixth round pick to the Tennessee Titans for the 83rd and 124th overall picks.

There are plenty of talented players left on the board in round three and going forward to round four, so this makes sense for New England.

Here now, are the picks that the Patriots will make (or trade) in the draft:

  • Round 3, Pick 83
  • Round 3, Pick 96
  • Round 4, Pick 124
  • Round 4, Pick 132
  • Round 5, Pick 183
  • Round 7, Pick 239

Possible 3rd Rounders Still Available

  • WR Chris Godwin, Penn State
  • DE Daeshon Hall, Texas A&M
  • CB Jourdan Lewis, Michigan
  • CB Desmond King, Iowa
  • DE Carl Lawson, Auburn
  • LB Duke Riley, LSU
  • CB Cam Sutton, Tennessee
  • LB Alex Anzalone, Florida
  • CB Shaquill Griffin, UCF
  • TE Jake Butt, Michigan
  • DE Derek Rivers, Youngstown State

I fully expect the Patriots to draft a linebacker or defensive end with their first pick at 83. The pick at 96 is a total mystery as to where they will go. Just imagine Jake Butt getting to play with Gronk. The jokes. The lessons he could learn!

I think more trades will come for New England, so just sit back and take it all in.
