Day one of the 2017 NFL Draft is in the books, and the New England Patriots were not involved. Their first pick will come in round three, but they could move up into the second.

The first round of the 2017 NFL Draft has come and gone, and there were plenty of surprises. There were a ton of trades, but none involved our New England Patriots.

Round one’s biggest shocker came when the Chicago Bears traded up one pick to select UNC QB Mitch Trubisky. At that point, it seemed like the Cleveland Browns could make another run at Jimmy Garoppolo.

Alas, those trade talks never came to fruition. Now, the Patriots first pick of this year’s NFL Draft will come on day two. New England’s first pick as of now is the 72nd overall pick in the third round.

With the quality of players that are available in round two, I think Bill Belichick will attempt to move up in the draft. I’m not sure exactly what he’d be willing to offer but expect the team to make a run at a pick in the top half of round two.

Possible Patriots Day Two Targets

There are plenty of tremendous athletes available on day two. These are some of the players that the Patriots may target, whether they move up into the second round or not.
