New England Patriots wide receiver Brandin Cooks addressed the media for the first time since joining the team on Tuesday.

Acquired in a trade with the New Orleans Saints this offseason, Brandin Cooks will be part of a powerful New England Patriots offense led by the great Tom Brady.

Speaking to reporters at Gillette Stadium on Tuesday, the Patriots new deep threat talked about playing with Brady and being a part of an offense that has a chance to set the league on fire.

With offseason workouts underway, Cooks has gotten a chance to work directly with Brady.  When asked about his experience, the dynamic wide receiver used the word “amazing” a couple of times to express his admiration.

More from New England Patriots

"“It’s amazing,” Cooks told reporters.  “He’s just an awesome quarterback and I’m glad to have the opportunity to be able to play with him.”"

Cooks did have a chance to observe Brady when he practiced with the New England Patriots as a member of the Saints.  When asked if there was something he learned about Brady before working with him, he pointed out his dedication and drive.

"“His attention to detail and how focused he is,” Cooks said.  “It’s something that I look at him and I try to strive for, to be just like that.  Obviously, the game on TV, he’s amazing, but to see him now in person in his study habits is awesome.”"

On being a part of an explosive offense

The 23-year-old wide receiver has been a part of explosive offenses before.  Obviously, catching the ball from Drew Brees, Brandin Cooks knows a thing or two about scoring.  He is coming off back-to-back 1,000 yard seasons with 17 touchdowns over those two seasons.

Adding a weapon like Cooks makes the Patriots offense that much more lethal.  So what does he think about joining a group that includes Rob Gronkowski, Julian Edelman, Chris Hogan, Malcolm Mitchell and Danny Amendola?

"“I’m excited to join a group like this,” he said.  “To come here and do my job and do what I have to do to help this receiver core be better and help the offense, that’s what it’s all about.”"

Cooks also talked about the significance of wearing No. 14 for the Patriots and how much he is enjoying his new opportunity in New England.
