Reports have surfaced that the New England Patriots and center David Andrews have agreed to a three-year contract extension.

Tom Brady and the New England Patriots have their center in place through at least 2020 thanks to a contract extension for David Andrews.

Mike Reiss of ESPN Boston first reported the news that Andrews and the Patriots had come to an agreement.

The contract is said to have a base salary of $9 million, though Andrews can earn up to $11 million per season with added incentives.

Andrews was signed as an undrafted free agent in 2015 out of the University of Georgia. He contributed right away as a rookie as Bryan Stork was out injured to begin the season. Though he was later replaced by Stork later that year, Andrews clearly showed that he has what it takes to play center in the NFL.

More from New England Patriots

New England moved on from Stork and Andrews has been the go-to man ever since. He’s appeared in 30 games for the Patriots, and he started in every playoff win this past season. Andrews was scheduled to become an unrestricted free agent at the end of this year.

Andrews could be the last center that Tom Brady ever plays with as his career winds down, and the QB liked what he was seeing last December.

"“He’s done a great job, been so consistent and dependable for us in his calls and his control of the line of scrimmage.”"

Brady also praised Andrews as a rookie when he was starting in place of Bryan Stork.

"“I can’t say enough good things about him.”"

In his post, Mike Reiss brought up a great point. The interior portion of the Patriots line will now have more time to grow and develop together. Joe Thuney is signed through 2019, while Shaw Mason is signed through 2018.

New England will feature a young interior line going forward, and they should be able to improve with each week going forward.
