With only four minutes left on the clock, down 2-1, the New England Revolution managed to equalize to save a point on the road.

No, It’s not as good as it could have been for the New England Revolution, but it’s better than nothing.  The Revs have still not left a road match with a win. The late point tonight will do something for morale.

The Revs had the upper hand in midfield against NYCFC, for the first time in a while, but struggled getting shots off.

Only three of their eight shots were on target. Seeing as two went in, NYCFC’s goalie only had to make one save during the match. If it wasn’t for the brilliance of Kelyn Rowe, Sean Johnson would have gone home with a one save win.

More from New England Revolution

The first goal for New England came off the head of Kei Kamara in the 24th minute. On a corner by Lee Nguyen, Kamara showed off his athleticism. Charging toward the ball, Kamara twisted in midair and redirected the ball beautifully into the net to draw even at one.

With 86′ on the clock, Rowe juggled the ball outside the box before crossing it in and finding the head of Xavier Kouassi. Not only was it a clutch goal for the Revs, but it was the first given up by NYCFC in the last 15 minutes this season.

Post-match feelings

A draw isn’t a win, in fact it’s two points worse than a win. Even so, the emotions of seeing it come in the way it did make the one point feel like three.

There’s enough time in the season to earn back those missed points. What’s needed right now is more energy and morale. The end of tonight’s match showed us fans just that.

I don’t usually believe that there should be a man of the match unless it’s a win but tonight is an exception.

Kelyn Rowe deserves the honor. What. A. Cross.

Looking forward

Thankfully, the road trip is done for the New England Revolution. Coming up on Saturday June 3rd, Toronto FC head to Massachusetts for a 7:30pm EST kickoff.

Here’s to a more successful but equally flashy home stand.
