Throughout the NHL season, the Boston Bruins showed interest in a couple Colorado Avalanche players. This offseason they may focus on bringing them to Boston.

The Boston Bruins have shown a clear interest in Matt Duchene and Gabriel Landeskog over the past year. This offseason they may push even harder to bring one of the two to the TD Garden.

Earlier offseason rumors have linked the Bruins to Minnesota Wild defenseman Jonas Brodin, but Boston may also be looking for a new forward.

Matt Duchene is under contract for two more seasons at $6 million. Landeskog is on the books through 2021 at $5.571 million.

The Avalanche were horrible last season, so that may be why the numbers aren’t fantastic for either forward. Duchene, who can play center or left wing, put up 41 points for Colorado this past season. He’s up and down from year to year, but a change of scenery could be just what the 26-year old needs.

More from Boston Bruins

Landeskog had an awful season. He finished the year with 18 goals and 33 points in 72 games for the Avs. In 2015-16 he had 53 points. Landeskog is a player that clearly needs a change of teams, as he has the skills to put up points.

The cap hit that Duchene would bring makes the younger Landeskog the better choice for the Bruins. Last offseason’s trade talks stalled between the two teams when Colorado demanded Brandon Carlo. I do think Boston would love to keep Carlo, but he’s certainly not untouchable.

the Bruins will have Charlie McAvoy and a number of young players gunning for defensive ice time, so perhaps they can see a scenario where Carlo for Landeskog is a smart move.
