The Boston Red Sox will have three players heading to the MLB All-Star Game in Miami this year, and another could be added with the Final Vote.

Mookie Betts, Chris Sale, and Craig Kimbrel will represent the Boston Red Sox in this year’s MLB All-Star Game in Miami on July 11th. Xander Bogaerts is in the Final Vote, so he could also be there for Boston.

The position players and DH were all named Sunday for the MLB All-Star Game, as were the reserves and pitchers. Boston’s only chance for a starter is if Chris Sale is named the starter on the mound.

Mookie Betts will come off of the bench for the American League, as he finished behind Aaron Judge of the Yankees, Mike Trout of the Angels, and George Springer of the Astros in the outfield. He made the cut due to the MLB player’s vote.

Betts is hitting just .278 this season, but he has turned it up as of late. He has 13 home runs, 43 RBIs and 14 stolen bases on the year. Mookie has 27 doubles so far in 2017, tied for the MLB lead with Nolan Arenado of the Colorado Rockies.

Craig Kimbrel has been extraordinary coming in for the Red Sox in the 9th inning. In his second year in Boston, Kimbrel has already recorded 23 saves. He’s only blown one opportunity. Over 35.2 innings pitched Kimbrel has allowed just 12 hits while recording 64 strikeouts. He’s also avoided the home run ball this season, with only one coming at his expense. He’s second in the majors with his 23 saves, behind Greg Holland’s 26 for the Colorado Rockies. When Kimbrel enters the game, it’s a guaranteed win for the Red Sox.

More from Boston Red Sox

Chris Sale has been among the best pitchers in MLB this season. He is 11-3, but those three losses came when the Red Sox gave him almost no run support. Over 120.2 innings pitched Sale has a 2.61 ERA with 166 strikeouts. He has only walked 22 batters and has allowed only 9 home runs in 17 starts. Sale has a chance to be named the starter for the AL in this season’s All-Star Game, and he may also be en route to his first career Cy Young. Sale ranks in the top 5 in the majors in ERA, wins, and WHIP (0.895). He leads the league in strikeouts (by 15) and innings pitched.

Xander Bogaerts still needs Red Sox fans help to make the All-Star roster. He will be a part of the Final Vote, which ends on Thursday, July 6th. You can vote for Xander here. You can also vote on Twitter by using the hashtag “#VoteX”.

In 2017, Bogaerts is hitting .314 with 39 RBIs and 29 extra base hits. He is up against Elvis Andrus of the Texas Rangers, Didi Gregorius of the New York Yankees, Logan Morrison of the Tampa Bay Rays, and Mike Moustakas of the Kansas City Royals.
