New England Patriots: Brandin Cooks is going to destroy opponents this season

The New England Patriots are going to be unstoppable with the addition of wide receiver Brandin Cooks. He’s already torching the Jaguars.

Brandin Cooks is joining a New England Patriots team that was already pretty impressive on offense. Now, they may be unbeatable as he helps to form one of the top WR trios in the NFL.

Finally, fans got to see Cooks against an opponent, even though it was just in joint practice with the Jacksonville Jaguars. He’s been impressive throughout training camp but watching him dominate in actual competition was amazing to see.

On Monday, Brandin Cooks gave us a taste of what he can bring to the Patriots offense in 2017. He torched the Jaguars secondary for an incredible one-handed catch for a touchdown. Here it is.

Patriots TE Rob Gronkowski isn’t surprised that Cooks is already making plays for New England.

"“He’s a great player, great dude and he works super hard,” Gronkowski said. “Not surprised at all to see him making plays like that [when] you see how hard the kid works.”"

Cooks has also drawn praise from head coach Bill Belichick in the past.

"“Brandin’s worked hard.  Definitely, he has some skill.  A transition for him [from New Orleans]; he’s working hard to make it,” Belichick told reporters, via ESPN."

Guess who else is already loving Brandin Cooks? His new QB Tom Brady.

"“He’s been great,” Brady said when asked about his new deep threat, via WEEI.  “I mean, just so fun to be with, so fun to work with, comes in every day with a great attitude and wants to work hard and is unselfish and been out here every day practicing and working on different things.  He and I are building up a rapport, but that takes a lot of time to be built.”"

More from New England Patriots

While it could be easy to get carried away with projections for Brandin Cooks this season, we have to keep in mind how many other weapons the Patriots have on offense. Gronk is the best tight end in the league, and he now has Dwayne Allen backing him up. Julian Edelman is one of the best slot receivers in the game, and Chris Hogan has shown he can stretch the field. New England will also find ways to work Danny Amendola and Malcolm Mitchell into the action. The Patriots have even more weapons in the backfield with James White, Mike Gillislee, Rex Burkhead, and Dion Lewis.

How is anyone going to slow down that offense?

Brandin Cooks will have a huge season, but he’ll only be a small part of the threat. The Patriots are favorites to win the Super Bowl, with a lot of credit being given to the offense for that. This could be a record breaking year in New England if the offense is as complete as we all seem to think it is.

Is 19-0 really a ludicrous prediction when the team is this good? I don’t think so. The Patriots addition of Brandin Cooks made the best team in the NFL even better. Watch out AFC, because no one is standing in their way of another Super Bowl appearance, and I don’t think there’s an NFC team that can beat them there either.
