Boston Celtics news and notes ahead of season opener
The Boston Celtics will open the 2017-18 NBA season on Tuesday night in Cleveland against the Cavaliers, who may be without LeBron James.
LeBron James is a game-time decision for the Cleveland Cavaliers in the season opener against our Boston Celtics tonight. While some may see a James absence as a positive, I disagree.
If James is out, it will just give the Cavs fans an excuse when the Celtics win this one. I don’t want there to be any doubt that the Celtics are the best team in the NBA’s Eastern Conference.
Brad Stevens confirmed suspicions about the Boston starting lineup. The lineup returns just one starter from last season and just two players from last year’s team overall. Al Horford will be joined by Jaylen Brown, Kyrie Irving, Gordon Hayward, and Jayson Tatum on the court for tip-off.
The Celtics also released their 2017-18 hype video for the season opener, and it seems like the team’s hashtag for the year will be #CUsRise. It’s worth a view just to see all of the new faces in Boston Celtics green.

Next: Celtics season opener preview
I’m extremely excited for the start of the Boston Celtics season, and reading some of those pieces from King James Gospel and Factory of Sadness has me really fired up. The Cavaliers don’t think the Celtics can compete with them in the East, but mark my words ‘Boston will be going to the NBA Finals in 2018.’ The season opener in Cleveland will tip off at 8 PM on Tuesday night on TNT. Kyrie Irving will look to shut down his former team, and I think he will.
