The Boston Bruins are starting yet another streak after defeating the Detroit Red Wings 3-2.

The Boston Bruins are on fire as of late. Just what Boston needs after a disappointing loss in the Super Bowl. The Bruins tallied yet another win as they defeated the Detroit Red Wings 3-2 on Thursday night.

Heinen tallies another one

This season has been an impressive one for Danton Heinen. He has been one of the Bruins top scorers, something no one expected heading into the season. Heinen came up big on Thursday night scoring what would end up being the game-winning goal. It was close to halfway through the third period Sean Kuraly feed the puck to Heinen after Austin Czarnik was able to force a turnover.

Heinen was near the faceoff circle and rifled a shot by Jimmy Howard for his 12th goal of the season. Outside of the Bruins first line, Heinen is the top scorer on the team. He has become one of the Bruins top offensive threats and is performing pretty great for such a young player.

Bruins head coach Bruce Cassidy seems rather pleased with Heinen’s play this season.

"“He’s a pretty smart guy, so he’s generally in the right spot,” said Cassidy. “For him, it’s just his pace, make sure it’s there every day, look after yourself, have your legs, and then be strong on pucks. You can see him shoot it, you can see him make plays.“Smart player, so for him the physical part has stuck around most of the year. Clearly he’s being a good pro and it shows. He’s earned his minutes.”"

Rask is on fire

Tuukka Rask continues to impress after a rough start to the season. He added yet another win on Thursday night. Rask stopped 26 shots on the night and now has a 21 game points streak. He is only the 11th goaltender in NHL history to reach the mark.

More from Boston Bruins

Rask also has won eight straight games, the longest streak since Tim Thomas won 10 straight in the 2011-2012 season. This is really an impressive stretch of play here from Rask. In the last 21 games, Rask has a 1.6 goals against average and a .942 save percentage. This is the type of play you expect from a Vezina trophy winning goaltender.

Bruins starting another streak

The Bruins are coming off an 18 game points streak and they are now on another streak. They have won 3 straight games and continue to play well even without their best player, Brad Marchand. Marchand will be returning at the perfect time. The Bruins are only three points behind the Tampa Bay Lightning for first place in the Eastern Conference. With the start Tampa Bay had everyone thought they had the No.1 seed locked up, but the Bruins have been playing phenomenal and now have a chance to take the top spot away from the Lightning.

Rask seems to have an answer for why the Boston Bruins have been performing so well.

"“Lately I think our starts have gotten better, but it doesn’t matter if we go down a goal. We just keep plugging away and play our game, and it’s paid off.”"
