New England Patriots: Tom Brady’s perfect performance in 2017
By Sam Minton
Tom Brady continued to defy time last season. His best performance was when he marched the New England Patriots down the field to defeat the Houston Texans.
Tom Brady had an amazing 2017 season for the New England Patriots. Even at the ripe age of 40, Brady continues to dominate the NFL.
Brady added to an already amazing resume, throwing for over 4,500 passing yards, 32 touchdowns, and 8 interceptions. He was able to lead the Patriots to another Super Bowl appearance, but sadly this was the rare case where the Pats were not the victors. Brady threw for 505 yards and 3 touchdowns, but this wasn’t even the best game of Brady’s season.
The letterman’s curse
Ever since the Houston Texans decided to wear those stupid letterman’s jackets when they were about to play the Patriots on Monday Night Football in 2012, the Pats have dominated the Texans.
This season’s matchup in week 3 was just another example.

Brady threw for 378 yards, 5 touchdowns, and also had a quarterback rating of 146.2. He was slinging the ball all over the place, throwing touchdowns to three different players. He was also pretty accurate completing 25 of his 35 passing attempts.
Brady was also successful with the long ball. He threw a bomb to Brandin Cooks down the sidelines and then later on in the drive threw a bullet to Rob Gronkowski for a touchdown
Something that makes Brady such a great quarterback is his ability to move in the pocket. He has a great pocket presence and even though he isn’t the fastest human being on Earth, Brady knows how to move around. Brady is able to extend plays which can make corners become lazy and commit penalties. He showed off these skills against the Texans.
Something else that was impressive was the pop Brady was putting behind these passes. He was putting something extra on his passes.
The game-winning drive
Then Brady did what he became famous for. With less than two minutes left in the game, Brady led the Patriots down the field. The final play was just amazing.
Brady dropped back and threw a perfect pass to Brandin Cooks in the front corner of the end zone. He fit the ball in the smallest of windows and Cooks caught the ball and was able to tap two feet in bounds to give the Patriots the lead. It was the perfect cherry on top of an amazing performance by Brady.

Hopefully, New England Patriots fans will get to see more of these great performances in the 2018 season when Brady returns for his 19th season in the NFL.
