Boston Bruins: Can Ryan Donato just join the team already
By Sam Minton
With all of the Boston Bruins injuries, an extra young player couldn’t hurt.
It seems like all of Boston is getting bit by the injury bug. The Boston Bruins are definitely not immune to this type of issue. WIth Brad Marchand, Charlie McAvoy, and Patrice Bergeron missing time, it seems like this is the perfect moment for Ryan Donato to join the Bruins.
Donato is coming off a great Olympic performance at the 2018 Pyeongchang Winter Games. In 5 games Donato had 5 goals and an assist. He proved he can play with the big boys. He is a dominant scorer and could definitely help this beaten up Bruins team.
Donato has continued to play well after the Olympics as well.
At Harvard, Donato has been a scoring machine. In just 28 games Donato has 26 goals and 15 assists. He added to his legend status by recording his 100th career point as he led the Crimson past Dartmouth to advance to the ECAC semis.
Donato had a hattrick on the night and his new goal total has him as one of the nations best goal scorers.
Donato’s fit with the Bruins
The Boston Bruins are in need of players like humans need oxygen. So if Donato could join the Bruins before the end of the regular season it would be greatly appreciated.

With “Bergy” still out with a fractured foot, Donato could slide into one of the Bruins center spots. I think it would be very interesting to see how Donato plays in the NHL. He continues to show that no matter the level he is a great player. His last challenge is the NHL.
Also, the fact that the Bruins aren’t in a real battle for playoff position is another reason the B’s playing Donato would be perfect. He obviously will want to perform well, but there isn’t a lot of pressure on him. Charlie McAvoy was called up to the Bruins late in the season and he spoke about how beneficial it was for him. Even in a rather short time, he was able to build chemistry with his fellow teammates.
Having Donato on the roster will only help the Boston Bruins. With such a banged up team, the Bruins need all the help they can get.
