A little something out of Devers

It was good to see Rafael Devers drive in a run in the second inning of Sunday’s game.

The Boston Red Sox third baseman has been battling a sophomore slump so far this season and is trying to work his way out of it.

While there is some suggestion that he needs to spend some time in the minors, allowing him to work it out with the big club might be the best medicine for Devers.  The 21-year-old obviously has the offensive talent to be much of a factor than he has been so far.

With a batting average below .240, the struggles of Rafael Devers have been covered up by the success of J.D. Martinez and Mookie Betts.  With those players out of the lineup, the spotlight is shining in his direction as a source of offense.

After witnessing Andrew Benintendi going through similar slumps, it is best to let Devers work it out.  With any young player, opposing teams have figured out ways to pitch him.  If he is to become a star in the league, he will have to adjust to their adjustments.

In reaching base twice on Sunday, the Boston Red Sox young infielder is trending in the right direction.
