Irving’s the main star of the new movie “Uncle Drew” and has been running the media gauntlet. On Wednesday he was in New York speaking to the fine folks at Hot 97 and Irving talked about how much he loves being in Boston.

Irving was phenomenal in his first season with the Celtics. He averaged 24.4 points and 5.1 assists per game. He improved greatly on defense and definitely became more of a team player. The Brad Stevens effect is real.
With Irving angering some fans by being noncommittal to the team some have pondered life without Irving and floated out the idea of trading him. This would be a dumb idea.
The Celtics need Irving if they want to make a championship run. He can flat out take over games and make some insane shots. When Irving is in “Killer Kyrie” mode he is unstoppable.
The Celtics managed to make it all the way to the Eastern Conference finals without Irving and got some great performances from Terry Rozier.
Still if the Celtics want to have a chance at a championship they need to have a guy like Irving who you can rely on to hit a shot late in the game.
