After making Boston Celtics fans nervous by not committing to a contract extension, it appears that Kyrie Irving has changed his tune.

Kyrie Irving is an interesting man off the court. He will go on and on talking about the possibility of the Earth being flat, and seems to be a little strange. Irving’s off the court antics have started to make Boston Celtics fans nervous. He has seemed rather uncommitted to staying in Boston, and he was rumored to want to play with the New York Knicks. Well now Kyrie seems like someone who wants to stay in Boston.

Irving has been talking a lot to promote his movie “Uncle Drew” and for the first time, it seems like Kyrie wants to stay in Boston.

"We have an incredible organization. I think we’ve positioned ourselves for the future, and we’re taking steps in the right direction. I’ve been transparent with [Celtics general manager and President of Basketball Operations] Danny Ainge. Transparent with the ownership of what my intentions are going into this season. And after the season, what conversations are going to be needed to have in order for us to get on the same page. What I really want, which is to bring our team — all of us together — to a championship with us all being healthy. That’s where my focus is, and when that time comes, I’ll be ready to answer."

Eyes on the prize

Once again it seems like Irving’s mind is in the right place. He is focused on winning with the Celtics. This will be a big season for Kyrie. After having his season cut short due to injury, he will have to prove that he can stay healthy.

More from Chowder and Champions

In 60 games Irving averaged 24.4 points, 3.8 rebounds and 5.1 assists per game. We know how great he is on the court, but the question is can he stay on the court for a full season?

Irving is one of the best players in the league. He can hit incredible shots and has the best handles in the league. This allows him to blow by defenders and get high percentage shots in the paint.

With Gordon Hayward and Irving returning next season, the Celtics look to be the team to beat in the East.

If the Celtics do achieve the goal of winning the championship it is hard to think that Irving would bounce. This current Celtics team is built for the long run.
