With Irving angering some fans by being noncommittal to the team some have pondered life without Irving and floated out the idea of trading him. This would be a dumb idea.
The Celtics need Irving if they want to make a championship run. He can flat out take over games and make some insane shots. When Irving is in “Killer Kyrie” mode he is unstoppable.
The Celtics managed to make it all the way to the Eastern Conference finals without Irving and got some great performances from Terry Rozier.
Still if the Celtics want to have a chance at a championship they need to have a guy like Irving who you can rely on to hit a shot late in the game.
It may have been annoying when Irving wouldn’t commit to the Celtics, but now he is on the right track. The more Irving talks the more it seems like he will be playing for the Celtics for a long time.
