The Patriots defense will be better than the offense

The New England Patriots have always been an offense first team. It’s hard not to be when Tom Brady is your quarterback. Even though the Patriots have a quality offense, but this year the defense could be fantastic.

The Patriots made a nice move in free agency signing Adrian Clayborn. Last season Clayborn had the best season of his career racking up 9.5 sacks. With Clayborn, Deatrich Wise, and Trey Flowers on the line the Patriots will be getting to the QB a lot last season. The Pats also have Malcolm Brown to plug up opponents running game.

The Patriots will also have an important part of their defense returning for this season. Dont’a Hightower will be back and will be leading the defense once again. Hightower is a great pass rusher and is decent dropping back in coverage. He will improve the defense a lot.

Finally the Patriots will have a solid secondary. Stephon Gilmore will be leading the cornerbacks and once he got on the right track he played great. On the opposite side of Gilmore will be Jason McCourty. McCourty is a quality corner who can make some plays. Last season he had 3 interceptions and 54 tackles.

Finally Jason’s twin brother, Devin McCourty will be back patrolling the field. McCourty is the heart and soul of the defense. McCourty had 77 tackles last season and buzzes around the field. He is one of the best safeties in the league and should be again this season.

All of this adds up to the New England Patriots having a great defense next season.
