Heart

One of the great things that Marcus Smart brings to the Celtics doesn’t show up on the stat sheet. The passion that Smart plays the game with makes everyone around him better.

More from Boston Celtics

No matter the score, Smart will be diving for loose balls, taking charges and energizing the entire Celtics roster. When you have a guy like Smart on your team it motivates players and makes them better.

Without Smart, the Celtics wouldn’t have the same intensity that they have had. Smart is a guy who would go to war for his teammates. We have seen that with the number of scuffles Smart has gotten in.

Smart’s effect on the locker room seems to be similar to Boston Bruins 4th liner Shaun Thornton, but I would argue Smart is a much better overall player.

Smart’s tenacity on the floor helps make the Celtics great, his absence in the locker room will definitely be felt.
