Xander Bogaerts injured again

Having one of his best offensive seasons in his career, it appears the only thing that can slow Xander Bogaerts down are injuries.

On Tuesday night, the Boston Red Sox shortstop took suffered another injury when he was hit on the right hand by a pitch in the ninth inning.  Although X-rays were negative following the game, it is the type of nagging injury that could have an impact on a player for a few weeks.

"“I got hit good,” Bogaerts said of the pitch from Phillies pitcher Seranthony Dominguez.  “Let it heal.  The swelling is down.  I iced it already.  Just talk to the trainers and see whatever they have in mind.”"

Again, with the team in great position on top of the AL East, the team can take precaution with Bogaerts.  With the way he has been hitting the ball this season, it is more important for the team to have him at full strength come September and October.

Also, with his history of struggling at the plate when the weather is cooler, a nagging injury to the hand could make things more uncomfortable for the Red Sox shortstop.
