Killer Kyrie

When Kyrie wants to takeover game he just has to flip a switch. Once he gets on a roll it seems like he can’t miss a shot. In the last two minutes of a close game, Kyrie is a valuable asset. You can rely on him to hit game-winning shots, which the Celtics sometimes struggled with prior to his arrival.

More from Boston Celtics

Even if Irving isn’t the one scoring, he draws the defense towards him. He can drive to the rim and kick it out to give the Celtics an easy three points. It is easier for other players to get open and most likely leads to the Celtics winning.

The Celtics closed out games much better last season, and they scored at a much higher rate. In a surprising turn of events when the Celtics defense struggled, Kyrie and the offense were able to pick up the slack.

Without Kyrie you lose a reliable closer, which is very important in today’s NBA.
