Trey Flowers

After leading the team in sacks the last two seasons, there is no reason to believe Trey Flowers won’t morph into an All-Pro caliber player in 2019.

As a player who is willing to do whatever the team asks, Flowers has displayed a growth and leadership that makes him the ultimate New England Patriots player.  That’s why the team would be crazy not to offer him an extension before he hits free agency following the season.

After all, the emergence of Flowers enabled the team to trade both Chandler Jones and Jamie Collins in 2016.  That continued emergence will make the Arkansas product a household name in 2019, especially with the way he tends to come up with big plays on the biggest stage.

Let’s not forget that huge sack in Super Bowl LI that enabled the Patriots to complete the comeback against the Atlanta Falcons.  Those kinds of plays are made by special types of players and Trey Flowers is proving to be a clutch performer on the defensive end.

With Donta’ Hightower returning as the defensive leader, Flowers will have more freedom to do what he does best and that is rush the passer.

On a defense starved for defensive stars, Trey Flowers will step forward in 2019 with double-digit sacks.  Let’s just hope it’s not too late for the New England Patriots to keep him around beyond the 2019 season.
