The New England Patriots defense was non-existent

The New England Patriots defense has gone missing. This is the 2nd straight week that they have been dominated by an opposing offense.

The Lions are not a good team, but they were better than the Patriots in Week 3. Kerryon Johnson ran for 101 yards and seemed like he couldn’t be stopped.

The Patriots defensive line struggled to get any sort of momentum for the entire game. They were dominated by the Lions offensive line and this led to Tom Brady sitting on the sidelines for a long time.

Now before we get into the players who were awful let’s talk about two players who did rather well.

Deatrich Wise ended the game with 4 tackles and a sack. Wise seemed to be the only energized guy out there and did his part to pump up the defense.

Also, Ja’Whaun Bentley secured his first interception of his career and also had 5 tackles. Bentley has become a surprising leader on defense and is looking like a great pick so far.

Now to the rough part. Did anyone else have to check if your TV was in slow motion after watching Dont’a Hightower try to chase guys down? He was so slow tonight. I can’t remember a game in which Hightower played so poorly.

Also, the Patriots secondary once again had a rough game. They struggled to make tackles and just couldn’t keep up with the Lions wideouts. The secondary as a whole needs to improve if the Patriots want to start winning some football games.
