The good Nathan Eovaldi

Almost everyone will be available for this one, including left-handed pitcher David Price.  Alex Cora would prefer if the good Nathan Eovaldi took the mound.

More from Boston Red Sox

You know, that same Nathan Eovaldi who looked so dominant in his first two starts in a Boston Red Sox uniform.  Ironically, in his last start of the season against the Yankees, Eovaldi looked like that pitcher again.  He pitched six scoreless innings in his start on Sept. 18 and came back to pitch two scoreless innings out of the bullpen in a game on Sept. 29.

Overall, in four starts against his former team, he is 1-1 with a 1.93 ERA.  If the Red Sox get that Eovaldi along with some run support, the Boston Red Sox should be in the driver’s seat to take back control of this series.

A strong performance could also give Alex Cora some flexibility with his bullpen.  However, if Eovaldi is given the quick hook, the pressure will be put on a bullpen that has been the Achilles heel of the team all season long.  He may also have to rely on two starting pitchers in Rick Porcello and David Price who are battling playoff demons.

Nathan Eovaldi turning in a strong performance would definitely make Cora’s life a little easier for the rest of the series.
