2. Dont’a Hightower

Dont’a Hightower may have had a rough start to the season, but these last two games he has played great. The linebacker has looked like a completely different player.

Now there were some times early on where Hightower was covering Kareem Hunt and got burnt, but I think the New England Patriots realized that wouldn’t be a good idea. Hunt has elite speed and can make Julian Edelman look slow.

Then Hightower made everyone eat their words when he snagged an interception that energized New England’s defense.

The pick may have come early on, but it showed that the Patriots “d” could get to Mahomes. Multiple times New England’s defense faked the blitz and dropped into coverage.

Hightower was also playing smart on Sunday. He made two great reads that caused plays to go for a loss. It looks like the Dont’a Hightower that New England Patriots fans know and love has returned.
