3. Secondary needs to step up

One of the troubling areas of New England’s defense is the secondary. These guys have struggled to keep up with guys.

The only player who has had a solid season is Stephon Gilmore. He has been one of the defense’s top players. Gilmore has locked opposing receivers down and completely shut them out of games.

Week 10 was Gilmore’s worst game of the season. He got lit up like a Christmas tree by Marcus Mariota.

New England needs guys like Jason McCourty, Jonathan Jones, and Duron Harmon to perform much better in coverage. If opposing team’s receivers are struggling to get open that will make it easier for the Patriots front seven to get sacks.

I still believe in this year’s New England Patriots team. They have the capability to get to the Super Bowl. They just need to fix their mistakes coming off the bye and get locked in for the 2nd half of the season.

Next. 3 Patriots who need to come back strong after bye week. dark

When you have Tom Brady and Bill Belichick you aren’t out of things until the final whistle.
