4. Danny Shelton

Danny Shelton had an up and down year for the New England Patriots. He only appeared in 13 games and missed a significant amount of time being listed inactive.

Shelton’s best ability is clogging up the line. Ever since Vince Wilfork left the team, New England has been looking for his replacement.

When it mattered most Shelton showed up. He helped contain Todd Gurley and had 2 tackles including one for a loss. Shelton made sure that all the holes were plugged in the trenches.

Since he missed so much time, Shelton shouldn’t cost you a ton of money. Having Shelton and Lawrence Guy as your big guys in the trenches is a nice situation to be in.

So it isn’t a pressing situation but if the New England Patriots can re-sign Danny Shelton they will have a strong run defense that can plug up holes. As Tom Brady gets older the team is going to need a better defense year in and year out.
