New England Patriots GameDay: Five players to watch vs. Miami Dolphins
Chase Winovich, DE
Along with those weapons Bill Belichick referred to in his press conference on Friday, the New England Patriots defense will have to find ways to contain Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Fitzpatrick and keep him in the pocket.
As we know, the 15-year veteran has some scrambling ability and that is where the high motor of rookie defensive end Chase Winovich comes in.
Expect the third-round pick to record his first and maybe second NFL sack in this game. Given the head down in Miami combined with his youth, he may see more snaps simply because of that high motor.
Fitzpatrick was sacked two times in Week 1, so look for Bill Belichick to attack the Dolphins offensive line especially without All-Pro left tackle Laremy Tunsil, who the team traded to the Houston Texans prior to the season.
Along with that transaction, there is some inconsistency along the offensive line that should benefit a player like Chase Winovich.
Again, if the Dolphins fall down quick and early, the Patriots front seven will be allowed to tee off on Fitzpatrick. That’s where containing him in the pocket will be key. If he rolls out or scrambles, the high motor of Winovich will be waiting.
