New England Patriots: Week 7 roadmap to the New York Jets
Players to watch
The key to this game is obviously how New York Jets quarterback Sam Darnold stands in there against the New England Patriots defense.
Coming off a 300-plus yard passing performance against the Dallas Cowboys, Darnold is confident and doesn’t fear the Patriots defense. If he makes a few big plays early, it could be a long night for Bill Belichick and the “Boogeyman” defense.
Another player to keep an eye on is Demaryius Thomas who was critical this past week over his brief time with the Patriots. Calling it a “waste of time,” could Thomas find a way to hurt his former team?
On defense, Tom Brady will have to be weary of safety Jamal Adams and also linebacker C.J. Mosely who is expected to play in this game. Along with a physical defensive line anchored by Leonard Williams, the Patriots offense will definitely be tested.
Quick plays and a lot of Sony Michel, James White, Brandon Bolden and Rex Burkhead running and caching the ball could keep the Jets’ defense off balance.
Prediction
The New England Patriots offense will have some new wrinkles with Ben Watson in the mix. The running game will be more production and the defense will force a couple turnovers off Sam Darnold as the Patriots will fight it out and improve their record to 7-0 with a 24-16 victory over the New York Jets.
