Ben Watson, TE

With both tight ends Ryan Izzo and Matt LaCosse ruled out for the Monday night matchup against the New York Jets all eyes will be on veteran tight end Ben Watson.

More from New England Patriots

The 38-year-old tight end has had a bit of a rocky start in his second stint with the team but appears excited to be back after being released following his four-game suspension to start the team.

Watson is not the best blocker in the world, but his presence and experience should be a great help to Tom Brady.  Again, with Josh Gordon out, Brady will need a big target and Watson should provide that.

He is a sure-handed tight end who will run the routes Tom Brady needs him to run.  His importance will loom large in this game as he will prove to be an upgrade over what the team had in Izzo and LaCosse.

Sometimes in football, injures can lead to some good things.
