Jamie Collins, LB

When Bill Belichick looked ahead at the 2019 NFL schedule for the New England Patriots, this Baltimore Ravens matchup is exactly why he signed Jamie Collins.

The entire linebacker crew will be huge in this one, but the athleticism of Collins will be used to keep Lamar Jackson inside the pocket.  Like Patrick Chung, expect Belichick to unleash the talented linebacker in different ways, but he’ll primarily be used to keep an eye on Jackson and those designed quarterback runs.

Fellow linebackers Kyle Van Noy and John Simon, along with defensive end Chase Winovich will be keys in setting the edge against Jackson and keeping him in the pocket.  That will free up the playmaking ability of Collins whose speed will be a huge factor in this one if the shifty quarterback escapes the pocket.

He will have opportunities to make some big plays.  Whether he makes those plays or whiffs of them will determine how this game will go.
