The New England Patriots defense has been getting gashed up the middle in the running game and that’s where veteran defensive end Lawrence Guy is a player to watch in this matchup.

Along with Danny Shelton, the middle of the Patriots defensive line must win their battles and stay in their gaps to limit the chunks of yardage they have been giving up by not staying in their lanes.

Even without lead running back Jordan Howard, the Philadelphia Eagles will test that line.  The front seven simply can’t let a player like Jay Ajayi come off the street and gash them up.  That’s where the veteran leadership of Lawrence Guy will play a role.

If both Guy, Danny Shelton and whoever else is playing along the defensive line stay with their assignments, that will free up linebackers Dont’a Hightower, Jamie Collins and Kyle Van Noy to make plays in this New England Patriots defense.
