Boston Celtics soar past Cleveland Cavaliers: 3 reasons to cheer
Grant Williams knocks down a three
While a win over the Cleveland Cavaliers at home isn’t too much to get excited about, there were some positives to take from the game like Boston Celtics rookie Grant Williams finally knocking down a three-point shot.
The versatile forward only scored 3 points in 12 minutes, but after starting his first NBA season going 0-for-25 from beyond the stripe, it was good to see him finally knock down one.
In fact, he jokingly earned the nickname Ben Simmons from teammates due to that cold streak.
"“We were calling him Ben Simmons for the longest (time),” Jaylen Brown said following the game, as transcribed by NESN. “But he knocked one down and Ben knocked one down too, so shout out to both those guys.”"
All kidding aside, Grant Williams is a much better long-range shooter than Simmons, as displayed by his Summer League performance. So, it was good to finally see him sink a three-point shot.
So far, in his rookie season, Williams has been showcasing his value on the defensive end and also showing off some nifty passing like this assist to Gordon Hayward on a Celtics fast break:
In all, Grant Williams will only get better on both sides of the court, especially if that three-point shot becomes a consistent part of his game.
