Boston Celtics soar past Cleveland Cavaliers: 3 reasons to cheer
Hayward picks up where he left off
An early Christmas gift for Boston Celtics fans was the return of Gordon Hayward, who has been sidelined since breaking a bone in his finder just over a month ago.
Slotted to return around Christmas, Hayward healed faster than expected and got back in the flow immediately.
Hayward got his shooting going right away with four quick points and ended the end with 14 points, five rebounds, four assists and a steal.
There was no minutes restriction for Hayward who played 26 minutes in the game. He looked good, felt good and easily got back in the flow of the chemistry of the team. In going 7-for-10 from the field, there was also no rust in a player who has missed over a month of basketball.
"“I got some easy looks,” Hayward said following the game, via ESPN. “Getting one in transition felt good. Anytime you get a layup, it definitely makes the rim get a little bit bigger for you. I think it’s a lot easier this time to come back from something when you can run around and you don’t have to rest your legs, so it’s just my left hand. That made it a lot easier.”"
In all, Gordon Hayward looked fresh on the court and ready to pickup where he left off. That’s a good thing for Boston Celtics fans, who really still haven’t seen a fully healthy C’s squad on the floor at the same time as Marcus Smart missed the game due to an eye infection.
Yes, the team is 17-5 and looking very much for real as an Eastern Conference contender.
