Now that Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski are gone, Julian Edelman is all alone on the New England Patriots.

Tuesday was a weird day for New England Patriots fans. In a blink of an eye, we saw Rob Gronkowski unretire and then be traded to Tampa Bay.

Now the Bucs have two of the most beloved players in New England Patriots history, Tom Brady and Rob Gronkowski. These guys were also beloved by Julian Edelman.

The bromance between Brady and Edelman is well known. Jules is like the little brother looking for respect from his big brother. Tom Brady had TB12 and Edelman had JE11. It’s pretty clear how much Edelman loved playing with Brady.

But Edelman also loved playing with Gronkowski. The two could really bro out and let loose. Brady would show some emotion on the field but Edelman and Gronkowski really let loose.

Now Edelman’s best friends are gone. He is all alone and now has the weight of the world on his shoulders.

We don’t know who will be under center for the Patriots in 2020, but we do know it will be a new face. Julian Edelman will have the challenge of continuing to perform well with a new QB.

Edelman will be the main target on offense. He is now the veteran and players will be looking at him for leadership on and off the field.

Also, critics will be wondering if he can put up the same numbers without Tom Brady as his quarterback. Did Brady make him a great wide receiver or is he truly one of the more talented pass catchers in the NFL?

No matter the outcome I feel bad for Edelman. He is without his two best pals and has a difficult season ahead.

But if he and the Patriots are successful he will have the validation he wants. He would without a doubt be one of the best receivers in the NFL.
